Omega-3 and your dog’s diet
Omega-3 fatty acids are an important part of canine nutrition.
They’re a family of essential fats involved in a range of normal functions within the body.
Where does Omega-3 come from?
Different foods contain different forms of Omega-3.
Marine sources such as oily fish and fish oils can provide particularly useful forms.
Monty’s recipes use fish and carefully selected oils as part of the overall nutritional formulation of our meals.
Fat isn’t the enemy
Fat sometimes gets a bad reputation, but dogs need appropriate dietary fats.
They provide energy, essential fatty acids and help with the absorption of certain vitamins.
As with most aspects of nutrition, balance is what matters.
Look at the whole meal
No single nutrient makes a diet complete.
Protein, fats, vitamins and minerals all work together.
That’s why we consider Omega-3 as part of the nutritional composition of the whole Monty’s meal rather than treating it as a fashionable ingredient to put on the front of a packet.
If your vet has recommended a particular Omega-3 supplement or dietary level for a health condition, follow their individual advice.
